Episode Ten: Rinatro Part 2

This is the second part of our interview with Japanese director Rintaro, filmed when he appeared at the Anime Next convention in New Jersey. In this episode, Rintaro tells us how he builds an idea for a film by starting with the music and sound and working onward from there.

Off camera, Rintaro mentioned the film "Brazil" as an influence in "Metropolis" cityscapes.

"Bitter Rice" is in fact, an Italian film ("Riso Amaro"), and from the original poster, we get a good idea what Rintaro-san is talking about.

Yona Yona Penguin is still going strong, and apparently the French have got their hands on some design images.

And so there you have it folks, the final part of our Rintaro interview. We'd like to thank the people at Anime Next for helping to set this up.

Next episode continues with Kaiju director Shusuke Kaneko, the director of both live-action Death Note movies.
